ACTIVITIES AND PROGRAM EXCHANGE 3 IN NEW SPACE

Premises of the old mill in the village Gabrovac, thanks to the support of  the City Municipality of Palilula, renovated and equipped for gathering and social activities of residents of this settlement. Village Gabrovac has more then 1,700 residents. Large number of working – age population left out the job in the process of  privatization of enterprises and has about 400 pensioners. According to Jugoslav Zivkovic and Svetislav Petrovic, members of Assembly of Palilula Municipality, new space will have an important role in gathering of residents and meetings.

On this occasion president of Palilula Municipality Prof. Dr Igor Novakovic and president of Assembly Milan Djurdjevic, with associates, visited village and with members of Citizens` Council and interested residents discussed about development priorities. City Municipality of Palilula in its Development Strategy give special priority to the activities to improve quality of life of residents in settlements both in urban and village. Therefore a key topic of discussion was information about construction of the local water supply and about the possibility of joining the city grid and the construction of sewerage network. In this conversation, that opened and other numerous questions of life and work of residents on the village participated and Alexander Mitic, managing director of PUE “Naissus”.

According to Igor Novakovic, president of Palilula Municipality, adapted rooms in Gabrovac will use and mobile teams of Municipal project “Strengthening of Municipal capacity to improve the quality of life for socially vulnerable groups” from program Exchange 3. Services includes medical assistance of vulnerable groups, measuring of blood pressure and blood sugar, provision of medical assistance advisory, psycho – social assistance and support, legal assistance. In Palilula is located 15 villages which rely on narrower part of the city. Describing the state on the field, solving problems and meeting with citizens has become common practice in work of management of this organization of local self government of City of Nis. The municipality has 24 local offices. Under the Statute of City of Nis, Council of City Municipality of Palilula brought a decision on appointment president, deputy, and members of Citizens` Council. This form of organization, confirmed in practice, plays an important role in achieving of strategic task and it is significant support to the management of organization of local self government in Palilula.
